Privacy Policy

Your privacy, in plain language.

Last updated: July 12, 2026

VN Property Tax Help ("we," "us") helps Harris County homeowners understand and protest their property tax appraisal. This policy explains, simply and honestly, what information we collect when you message us or use our website, how we use it, and how to reach us. We keep this short on purpose — because we don't do anything complicated with your data.

1 Who we are

We are VN Property Tax Help, a do-it-yourself property tax service for Harris County (HCAD) homeowners, operating at vnpropertytax.com and through our "VN Property Tax Help" Facebook Page.

2 What information we collect

3 How we use it

We use your information only to answer your questions and help you with your property tax protest or exemption — nothing else. To reply helpfully and quickly, our messaging replies may be generated with the assistance of AI. A real person from our team may also follow up when your question needs it.

About your DIY kit and sensitive details (driver's license / Social Security number): when you build a kit, the details you type are used in the moment to fill out your PDF and are then discarded. We do not create an account for you, we do not save your kit details on our servers, and we do not store your driver's license or Social Security number anywhere. If you'd rather not type those numbers at all, leave them blank — your PDF will print with a blank line so you can fill it in by hand and upload the scan.

About season reminders: if you sign up for a reminder, we keep only your email address and property address, and use them only to email you before the next protest season. You can ask us to remove you at any time (see below).

4 What we do not do

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5 Who we share it with

We only share information with the service providers we need to run this service, and only so they can help us operate it — for example: Meta / Facebook (which delivers your messages), the AI provider that helps draft replies, our website hosting providers, Stripe (which processes your $39 payment — we never see or store your card number), our email provider (which sends your receipt and re-download link), and the form provider that receives season-reminder signups. They handle your data under their own privacy and security terms.

5b Payments & refunds

The $39 protest kit is a digital product delivered instantly (it downloads when you pay, and your receipt email contains a re-download link), so all sales are generally final. BUT — if your kit fails to generate, or you don't receive it, email hello@vnpropertytax.com and we will re-send it or refund you in full. Exemption forms are always free. No outcome is ever guaranteed — HCAD, not us, decides every protest and exemption.

Savings guarantee (protest kits). We guarantee the evidence, not the verdict. If you buy a protest kit, file your protest, and HCAD does not lower your property's market value for that tax year, your kit for the next protest season is free. Nothing to claim: after values are certified in late August we compare HCAD's certified market value against the value on the notice, and email a free-kit code to the address used for the purchase. We measure market value (not the capped appraised value) so a homestead cap can never work against you. One free kit per property, per year.

6 How long we keep it & deleting your information

We keep your messages and information only as long as needed to help you and to keep our records. You can ask us at any time to delete the information you've shared with us — just contact us (below) and we'll take care of it.

7 A note about Facebook

Because we communicate with you through Facebook Messenger, Meta's own Privacy Policy also applies to those messages. We recommend reviewing it if you'd like to understand how Facebook handles your data.
